How it works

From parts, to a product page, to the workshop.

You build options once as components, add them to products you already sell, preview and publish changes, all inside your Shopify admin. Customers get a clear order form. Your workshop gets the full build.

1 · Components

Make each option set once

A component is a group of related options with their prices: a headrest, a set of drops, an upholstery colour. Change it once and every product that uses it picks up the change when you publish those products, all of them in one go.

Component · DropsShared by every table
Thoracic drop · Full drop+$275.00
Thoracic drop · Upper & lower+$550.00
Pelvic drop · Yes+$275.00
Dual tension · Full drop+$165.00
2 · Product

Add an order form to any product

Pick a product already in your Shopify store and list the components it uses, in the order customers see them. Rules can reach across components. The base price stays the product's own Shopify price.

3 · Rules

Show, hide and price options by what's already chosen

Hidden options are never charged. Rules can chain: one choice reveals a second, which reveals a third.

4 · Your theme

Add the order form to your product page

Two blocks you place in Shopify's theme editor, on Online Store 2.0 themes. "Build yours" sits in the product info, with the From price and a button that jumps to the order form.

The order form opens on your standard build, so the first price is one customers can buy. A "Your build" panel follows every choice with pictures, the itemised price and what's left to choose. Colours, fonts and diagrams follow your theme.

5 · Preview, publish, history

Preview it. Publish it. Restore any version.

Edits wait as a draft. The preview in your Shopify admin shows the order form exactly as customers will see it. Publish when it's right. Every order form keeps its full history, so you can restore any version, older or newer. Components keep every version too.

6 · The order

One cart line, priced on our side

When the item goes into the cart, the price is worked out again on our side, so a changed page can't change what the customer pays. The line lists the base price and what each option adds. At checkout, a build number matches the build sheet your workshop gets with every order.

7 · Your products

Your products stay yours

OrderSmith never touches a product's title, description, photos, price or SKU. You keep editing those in Shopify, and it adds only the order form. Change a price in Shopify and the form, cart and checkout follow, with nothing to republish. It works with your existing catalogue and alongside your SEO, translation, feed and bulk-edit apps.
